my anchor and my why
I moved to Australia from Hong Kong when I was nine years old, just Mum, Dad, my younger brother Eric, and me. We had no extended family, no network, just each other. They became my backbone, my anchor, and my world.
Watching how hard Mum and Dad worked to migrate, to rebuild a life from the ground up, and to give my brother and me a better future shaped everything I value today.
I carry that gratitude with me every day, and one of my greatest joys in life is being able to take care of them now, in the same way they took care of us then.
And, of course, now that I’m married, my husband is also part of my heart and my home, my partner, my best friend, and my greatest cheerleader.
Here are the people who hold my heart.

My Husband (SD)
My husband is my best friend, my playmate, and the person who constantly stretches my thinking. He’s one of the smartest people I know, and I absolutely adore him.
With his world class sporting background, he teaches me discipline, grit, and relentless consistency. He keeps me laughing, keeps me grounded, and helps me grow in ways only he can.

Daddy
I’ve always been a daddy’s girl. I definitely got my wit and sense of humour from Dad. He taught me how to be organised, efficient, and attentive to details.
Even now, when he stays with us in Bangkok, he still looks after me, making me tea while I work, reminding me in little ways that I’ll always be his daughter.

Mummy
Mum has been a nurse for over 40 years, and I got my heart and compassion from her. I have her smile, her nurturing nature, and her ability to give love so effortlessly.
She is “warmth” in human form.

My Baby Brother, Eric
My brother is the best gift Mum and Dad ever gave me. We laugh endlessly together, especially with our Choa-family level of sarcasm. No matter where life takes us, we always have each other’s backs. Even though he’s younger, his wisdom always astonishes me. He’s one of my rocks, and he has a way of grounding me instantly.

My Beautiful Sister-in-Law (Vi)
Vi is the latest addition and the heart of our family. She’s caring, thoughtful, and incredibly loving towards my parents. Watching how happy she makes my brother brings me so much joy. She fits into our family so naturally, and I treasure her deeply.
